Josie Ford

Specialist Independant Director

Josie, a proud Whudjuk woman with connections to Yued, Ballardong, and Wilman Country, is the Aboriginal Health Strategy Director for the South Metropolitan Health Service. Josie is a strong advocate for improving Aboriginal health outcomes, providing cultural oversight and advice across the health sector. With a Bachelor of Applied Science in Indigenous Professional Practices, Josie brings extensive expertise in Indigenous community management and development.

Recognised for her excellence, including receiving the prestigious Child and Adolescent Health Service staff excellence awards, Josie has been instrumental in improving mental health services for Aboriginal people. She also serves as a Cultural Advisor for the Rockingham States Netball Club, where she supports vulnerable children and promotes Aboriginal leadership in sports.

Since joining the Moorditj Koort Board of Directors as a specialist, her vision has been to create localised hubs offering culturally appropriate health services. By establishing these innovative service centres, Josie aims to set an example for others to follow, making a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.  Outside of work, Josie enjoys bushwalking and cherishes her role as a mother and grandmother, with family and community at the heart of her efforts.
